HOW WE MAKE AN IMPACT

We help students, teachers, administrators, and their respective communities manage their repertoire of behavior for overcoming obstacles and working toward their preferred future. By sharing the Prosocial process itself, we aim to empower these groups and their individual members with the ability to improve and adapt at scale and in the face of any challenge.

 

DRIVEN BY SCIENCE

Contextual Behavioral Science

Contextual Behavioral Science ("CBS") is an evolutionary theory of behavior, language and thinking. The key leverage point for coordinated learning and action is changing the way we relate to our own experiences and to those of others.

Political Science and Economics

Nobel Laureate Elinor Ostrom showed that groups are capable of avoiding the "tragedy of the commons" if they possess certain core design principles ("CDPs"). We apply the CDPs to the educational commons in the same way they apply to our social, economic and planetary commons.

Evolutionary Science

We rely on cultural evolution to navigate fast changing conditions in our world - a capacity embedded in our genes. The CDPs together with CBS foster the psychological and behavioral flexibility necessary to allow us to adapt at the speed of change.

UNITED IN GLOBAL COMMUNITY

Prosocial Schools is a circle within Prosocial World, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that hosts a global initiative to catalyze positive cultural change to consciously evolve who we are, how we connect with each other, and how we interact with the planet.

Prosocial Facilitators

Prosocial has trained more than 500 people in 35 countries through the Prosocial Institute, in addition to publishing our book titled "Prosocial". The Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS), with over 8,000 members, has also played a major role in the adoption of Prosocial. 

Prosocial Schools NIC

We are rapidly evolving an international Networked Improvement Community (NIC) to foster collaboration across developed and developing countries, private and public schools, and rural, suburban and urban settings. 

Coalition Building

We seek to partner with organizations working to advance the improvement aims that our member schools seek to resolve. We are especially excited about community science, youth voice, and evidence informed strategies to drive equity and inclusion as an organizational system.
